Hands Off The Spigot! by Robert Verdon

'As stealing is the essence of our economic laws, repealing them would really be a crime!'

About Robert Verdon

I am an author in Canberra. I like philosophical novels (satire, dialectical semifiction, literary utopias, science fiction and fantasy), essays, and angst-ridden teenage poetry on ontological issues. Which is a bit like being a furrier in Hollywood, especially if you’re a vegetarian. (Or a currier in Bollywood, perhaps, especially if you’re an eggitarian.)

I believe that Australia and California should both secede from the toilet-borne American Empire and form the world’s biggest lake. If we get out of this crisis the next one will be bigger!

El pueblo, unido …

Reading from Her Brilliant Career, Mt Ainslie, Canberra launch, 1998.

I have had various bits and pieces published in innumerable magazines over the past thirty years, along with a few books; but my dream of la dolce vita through scribbling has so far been thwarted. This has filled me with dark thoughts; I have considered going berserk with a quill outside the ACT Writers Centre edifice. I want to see ink in the streets. Death to the Local Writing Scene!

But alas, I am past the menopause (here’s me in my little Aged Persons Unit). So fuck it.

There’s always angsty poetry:

Epitaph

Joy is sadder than death,
And dies sooner.
Your breath is my breath:
My death is your death.
